As you can read in the brochure below, Sri Sri Rama Govinda Temple is a long cherished project of Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami.

Maharaja predicted that this Temple will be more succesfull than Bhubaneswar's Sri Sri Krsna Balarama Temple (of which His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada said that it will be one of the most succesfull Temple's in ISKCON).

The land is nicely situated next to the national highway, and in the city of Berhampur there are many colleges and a university as well, which creates exellent preaching opportunities.

Please take these points into consideration when we ask you to PLEASE DONATE generously for the completion of this promising project.

Zoals u in de benedengelegen brochure (in het Engels) kunt lezen, is de Sri Sri Rama Govinda Tempel een lang gekoesterd projekt van Sri Srimad Gour Govinda Swami.

Maharaja heeft voorspeld dat deze Tempel meer succesvol zal zijn dan de in Bhubaneswar gesitueerde Sri Sri Krishna Balarama Tempel (waarvan Zijne Goddelijke Genade A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada heeft gezegt dat het één van de meest succesvolle Tempels in ISKCON zal zijn).

Het land is gunstig gesitueerd naast de nationale hoofdweg, en in de stad Berhampur zijn vele colleges en ook een universiteit, wat uitstekende predikmogenlijkheden creerd.

Neemt u deze punten a.u.b. in overweging wanneer we u verzoeken om A.U.B. genereus te DONEREN voor de voltooiing van dit veelbelovende projekt.

The following text is taken from the magazine which was printed for the ocasion of the Deity installation and foundation laying ceremony of ISKCON's Sri Sri Rama Govinda mandir in Ankuspur (Berhampur), Orissa (25th Januari 2005) by Chaitanya Chandra Das (Temple President)

“VAISHNAVER KRIPA TAHE SARVA SIDDHI’’   

We are very much grateful to all Guru Bargas, Devottees and generous donors for giving us their blessings, cooperation and help to fulfill the desire of a Parama Vaishnava Acharya Srila Gurudev.

We all are gathered here to celebrate the Installation of Sri Vijay Vigrahas of Their Lordships Sri Sri Sita, Rama, Laxman, Hanuman and Sri Sri Radha Govinda as well as the foundation laying of Sri Sri Rama Govinda Mandir.

I remember, in the year 1995 the donor of the land Sri Shyam Babu Patra (now Sri Gour Shyam Das) came to Srila Gurudev and expressed his desire to donate his land for making a Temple for his Ista Deva Sri Rama Chandraji. But our Gurudev said to him that he is the worshiper of Sri Sri Radha Govindaji and if he will donate 50% of the costs of the Temple Project then he would take up this Project and put Sri Sri Ram, Laxman, Sita Devi and Hanuman in one altar and Sri Sri Radha Govind and Gouranga Mahabrabhu in another altar.

Regarding making two altars for Sri Vigrahas Shyam babu agreed and regarding 50% contribution, he said that he is ready to give all his properties to Srila Gurudev and Gurudev should take up this Project soon. Then Gurudev pointed out of this self to take up this Project.

The land was surveyed by our God-brothers Patitapaban Prabhu and Gokulananda Prabhu and they found it feasible one. Only a road was to be made available.

Unfortunately, before registration of the land in favour of ISKCON Srila Gurudev left his body. So to keep up his words, this fallenself went on doing the necessary documentation and took all possible steps to make this Temple Project a fullfledged ISKCON Project. After so many difficulties and efforts the Project is getting a shape now. But more remains to be done. We don’t know how we will be able to complete the Project. It all depends on the mercy of Sri Sri Guru and Gouranga. We are sure that a pure Vaishnava’s statement will come true.

Though money is having a vital role to play in completion of this Project, but only money will not bring all success and make Srila Gurudev and Sri GovindaJiu happy. Which is needed to make Their Lordships and Vaishnavas happy is to render seva for their pleasure without self interest.

If we are looking forward to become peaceful and blissful in this age of Kali, let us come forward to serve Sri Sri Rama Govindajiu with our utmost ability. There is no other way left for us to become happy than serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Govinda Dev.
